Several hours ago Dougie (DSTM) had to undergo serious but, fortunately, common eye surgery. My understanding is that he has been instructed to keep off the computer for about a week. I originally posted this yesterday but got my clocks wrong so I am doing a bit of an edit and moving the post to the public forums.

So while we wish him the the speediest and fullest of recoveries, If you catch him here during the next week looking at this thread or any other tell him to get the hell off the computer. I should hear from him on skype (I assume opened by Evie so he can talk,) I will keep you on top of anything I learn.

PS. In American sports the DL is the disabled list where the league rules dictate when the player can return after an injury.

Hi Dougie - if you are reading this before 20th Sept - get off that damn computer !!!

I hope your operation went well and that you recover quickly.
I shudder at anything to do with eyes.
Hope to see you soon my friend ..................( excuse the pun :) )

I just spoke to Dougie on Skype a few minutes ago, the surgery went well but he is in some considerable discomfort. He need to return to the Dr. in about 7 hours from now.

I will keep you informed when I learn anything but it would appear that the worst is that he will have an unpleasant time of it for a short while.

Hope your better soon Dougie, not sure what surgery it was (you might mention something after the 20th) but hope it's went good as well.

BCB warn him he'll have to watch where he steps, his depth perception will be terrible :D :p

hope all went well and your recovery is complication free.

Here is a question for you to ponder, here in the UK we have toilets in public places specially designed for the disabled to use, on the door to these toilets is a big sign that reads "Disabled Toilet", why would anyone want to use a toilet that doesn't work?

It was either a lens replacement (cataract) or a boob job, not quite sure which.

I think we would notice if it was a boob job - he would have a big lump over one eye :)

All the best Dougie when you can come and read this, but no cheating and looking in earlier than you should,

I know quite a few folk who have had the cataract op and all have recovered well enough to be able to say they hadn't realised just how bad their sight had become before the op, but because now they can see properly, there is something to compare against.

However the first few days to even more than a week, the discomfort is similar to having something in your eye. I doubt I would want to look at the computer screen while in that sort of discomfort.

    Nev.

I forgot to put the word eye before surgery, smarty pants

My grandma had a cataract replaced a few months ago and is due to get the other replaced soon, like Nev mentioned the eyesight improvement is very noticeable after the Op, hope it's going well and the pain/irritation is going.

If you are reading this now or any time before midnight on the 21st, you are in such BIG trouble, our Doug!! - yup, you are!!!

How I hope you are not in pain! - they keep saying cataract surgery is "painless" but suspect that may be much like when a doctor who is going to deliver a baby tells the mother "it may be a bit uncomfortable" - aaaagh!

Anyway, how I hope and hope you are doing okay and will be able to see clear as a bell soon!

(And no cheating - that can't be stressed enough with our Doug - grin - so please give him poo if you think he may be, BeeCeeBee - and perhaps remind him that even using the computer 'one eyed' is a huge no no as both eyes quite literally move in unison).

Hoping Doug is in much less pain when you speak with him next, BeeCeeBee!
