I have 2. An old G5 which cost me an arm and a leg. Over 6 grand. I also have a mini which cost me $800 after I upgraded the memory. I wouldn't buy again, but, I do love OSX and use my mini for most of my online activities.

Interesting article there, Alan :). And I'm envious of your Macs', Bob!

For a computer expert, the very words 'appearance' must surely seem funny - but I think Mac is on to something. If rich enough, I could buy an 'all in one' with only the lovely screen and stand with keyboard built in 'visible' and taking up space on my desktop ... rather than this huge bulky tower plus the screen plus the keyboard - and little room left on the desk for anything else.

Noticed though that Dell is making 'tiny towers' - in colours even!! - and they will definitely be on the top of my list when I have to one day break down and buy a new computer.

I doubt Bill wrote the article .. newegg.com is Canadian and I would think it is highly unlikely Bill will search the web for a best price. As for a Mac, I looked at them and did not feel they are worth the money. My PC runs well, is upgradeable and issues are few and far between.

My friend has a Mac and swears there is no other like it and no viruses. However, the funny thing is that viruses are passed on from a Mac computer to me. Avast tags the sender so I know where it is coming from.

Now I am going to ask a dumb question. If a Mac passes along a virus .. is there a possibility the Mac would be infected as the virus had to come from somewhere in order to be passed along??

The fact that a virus may be geared to attack a windows OS dopes not mean that it cannot be passed on trough a mac.

It really is not so much that the mac is superior with regard to infection it is just that it is less targeted because of its lower market share. I believe that will change at some point soon.

OSX acts as a conduit. A Mac user could download any Windows virus and not know it and pass it right along to a Windows user. The virus will not execute on Macs.
