Somehow or other several sites have got hold of my address and every day I get several emails pushing dodgy pharmacy. The sites appear to be in places like Russia or Belgium. Sometimes an apparently kosher Canadian site comes up, which has an ''unsubscribe'' link, which doesn't work. I can't find any way of getting rid of these intrusions. Can anyone help?

Are you receiving spam emails on the very email address that you have used to register on our website?

Yes. Why, do you see a problem there?

Since when are you receiving such emails? If you search your email id in google, you will find there is a page where your email is listed and it is publicly viewable. Spammers have bots/softwares that collect such emails. You should contact the website owner and request to remove it.

What program do you use to receive and send emails? Does it not have a spam filter? I am using gmail and it has a very good spam filter. I am not sure but i think you can forward this email to Gmail. Try Gmail.

Gmail spam filters are very good.
I can't remember the last time a spam email got through to my Gmail account.
If by any chance you are using Yahoo email address..... you are on a hiding to nothing.
They have to be the worlds worst when it comes to spam.

I use Thunderbird and I have started identifying the emails as Junk in the hope Thunderbird will block future emails. I get the Spam from several different sources, all wanting to sell me pills such as Viagara

I have a btinternet email address, which might be as bad as Yahoo. So far today I have not had any spam so I am hoping my identifying the emails as such has resulted in them being blocked. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your help.

Apart from changing your email address or adding to the spam filters, there's not a lot that can be done unfortunately.
Hopefully Thunderbird will help to control the problem.

Get and use free version Mailwasher, and give them the boot before even coming in. http://www.mailwasher.net/

Delete. unwanted e-mails before you download to your computer. You'll be able to see who the email is from, the subject, and the attachment. This will enable you to decide if you want to delete the email or keep it. A great way to stop viruses, large attachments or to just delete unnecessary emails from getting to your computer....Blacklist or bounce it is up to you, have used it for years would not be without it!!

Having tagged the offending emails as Junk, Thunderbird seems to be doing its stuff. I have not received any of the dodgy pills emails since. I'm now hoping that's the end of them. I am happy otherwise with the level of spam I receive, which is virtually zero, and those I get I usually know why I got them and can unsubscribe from them if I want to.
