Is there a recommended site to download a free DOCX VIEWER that will open .docx files? I hate CNET for it has all sorts of other software traps to catch you in besides the one you want. Just want a simple no extras free DOCX VIEWER if possible. click DOWNLOAD on CNET and get all sorts of seemingly unrelated stuff.

I think Kingsoft Writer, part of the Kingsoft suite, will do that. Kingsoft, BTW, is free.

If you wish to simply view a DOCX file then Kingsoft will do that, but unfortunately if you ever want to print, export or save the file then Kingsoft unfortunately watermarks them. A better alternative might be the free Libre Office, which is similar to Open Office, and comes as a full install app or as a portable program, meaning you can run it of a USB stick and print, modify, save export, and create new files without any crippled features. The portable version, and description is available HERE.

I also recommend the free (open source) LibreOffice suite  that does read DOCX.
I've used for years since I don't use 'Microdunce' Office. The only thing LibreOffice does NOT have is an email client.
