This free anti-tracking product will amaze you. I installed it two days ago (after reading about it in a newsletter), and it has blocked 1,364 tracing instances. Fantastic!!

    Read about it here:

I know - I know - it sounds as if I were being paid to recommend it. Don't I Wish!!!! :mnyeye:
But, it really is great - and quite interesting to click on its Icon and look at the details.

I knew we were being tracked. But that Much?!?!?

One question. Have you found any instances where it interfered with your browsing? It sounds pretty good to me.

Thanks for this, I am testing in both FF and Google Chrome. I have yet to find a site where DNT+ has caused a problem. My preliminary observation is that it slows Chrome down in instances with more than 2 tabs open, but I will continue using it to see if that is actually true.

It sounds good Richard. I'm going to give it a whirl using IE. Thanks....

I haven't noticed any slow-downs. I wonder if it might be faster since less personal information is being transmitted???

My total blocked instances is now at 1,530. I knew that information was being collected - just not that much!

Incidentally, ComputerHelpForum has only a single instance = Google Analytics.

Thanks for the information and links Richard. I'm using Firefox 10.0.2 and have just downloaded and installed. I'll report here anything that may benefit CHF members or staff.

I have now had DNT+ for 5 days, installed on Chrome, FF ver. 10.0.2 and IE ver. 8. I had originally thought and noted here that DNT slowed Chrome down when multiple tabs were open. I now believe this is wrong, and to be fair I wanted to point that out.

I also heard about this neat little package elsewhere on a different and general purpose forum, IDF50, in their own small computer help section. I also have been evaluating the performance in Firefox, bearing in mind I also have the Firefox add on "Add Block Plus" which to be fair is also blocking some of the odd advert based stuff before DNT+ gets a look in.
The main thing I will use to see how effective DNT+ is, after some weeks, will be a scan with Superantispyware, those of us who run that will know how SAS picks up on tracking cookies, the one thing DNT+ is hopefully going to stop getting in in the first place.
Now having said that, I ran SAS on a quick scan shortly after installing DNT+ so I would know I had a clean slate to start off with. One thing that made me laugh though is the fact that among quite a few others, SAS picked up a tracking cookie from the DNT+ site. They say they don't do that, er, well where did that one come from eh?

    Splendid! Your all-time total is:
    6,257 blocked

This DNT has been running quietly in the background since it was first brought to my attention.
Have not opened the icon for months, and today's peek brought good results, shown above.

The less crap on my machines, the happier I am!
    So, thanks Bill!

OK an update, this might just be a peculiarity on my machine running W7 Pro. However, it would seem that DNT+ uses a data base installed with it, as most security software does the same thing as the reference point to work from.
That is OK in most cases except in mine, running a Superantispyware scan picks up large numbers of tracking cookies, these I now assume are actually the DNT+ data base.
I uninstalled DNT+ and the large number of trackers vanished, therefore proving that.
Any one else running SAS found it picking up large numbers of Cookies while DNT+ is installed?

Well, now it is two months since my last post on this, as I said in that post, DNT was removed, and enquiries sent to both the DNT people and also to SAS, nothing has been heard of from either so suspect in both cases, enquiries that come under the "All to difficult to solve" are ignored.
DNT, stays off, SAS removes tracker cookies once a week and for now all is still OK.
I will have a look at installing DNT again soon, but if SAS picks up the masses of cookies in the DNT data base as it did last time, it goes off again.
