Thank you but I do not see anything named "settings". I clicked "Settings" gear which is number 7 between centerwell and W Globe Life Field-Wiki... below the URL box at top but got no further.

I am not succeeding at this. I see a gear icon at top of my screen but not the rest. I will keep on trying. I am frustrated right now but I thank you and hope I can succeed. I will try a bit later on.

I have the settings icon circled in red.

The question mark is support, then settings, then AI, then a grid where you can select other google items and last, your icon.

in my g-mail subject list there appeared a category named "Social". How do I get rid of this which was never there before NOW???
Never mind. In the list there was a choice that said "HIDE". I clicked it and the category disappeared. Hope I did right. Never saw it before.

Rather than starting another thread I am posting this HERE.
For a long time I have been running a Microsoft Security Essentials and a Malwarebytes Free scan. Used to be it found nothing. Now the MWB found 3 threats and quarantined the items called PUPs. What do I do with these? They are now in quarantine , one about a week and two today.

I now have 3 threats in quarantine in Malwarebytes Free. How long should I leave them there?

You can delete them any time you want. As long as everything is working OK you don't need them.

So you are saying it is OK to delete the PUPS from Quarantine? I just deleted the 3 that were found this week and previous week PUPS. Never found anything in all my times of use. Since I never found anything I did not know what to do when I DID.

I did another scan. Scan found NOTHING, as USUAL. No idea what these items were. I was curious as to if they would return.

Usually pups are programs that are attached to software that you downloaded.

I used to us Google Chrome Browser fr nearly all my laptop history. Then because of some forgotten or unknown problem I switched to Firefox. Is this a good idea or should I switch back or try to switch back to Google Chrome and if so can someone tell me how to do so? Thank you. William.

Don't use Chrome on Windows 7!!! The only browser still patched for Windows 7 is Firefox. Stick with Firefox to be safer.

I have been using Firefox for a long time now. It seems to work fine for me.

    Good, continue to use Firefox.
Make sure it is up to date.

How do I be sure Firefox is up to date? It has seemed very satisfactory so far.
Also, letters that used to be arked as Spam are turning up in my inbox, How can I stop this? I have been just deleting them after trying to mark them as Spam.

You will always get spam. Mark as spam, wait a day or two before emptying the spam folder. Gmail is good at learning what is spam; some of the other email sites are as good.
