All through the day my display suddenly dims and I get the following error message. "Display Driver has stopped working but has since recovered." Then my display gets bright again. My concern is what is making the display driver stop working? Pls see my diag copy below.

If that doesn't work for you go to the card mfgr site and download the newest driver. That often happens when we allow Windows Update to put in their convoluted versions of video and audio updates whereas the real one from eith Nvidia or ATi would do a much better job. Of if a brand name computer, then the mfgr website may have newer as well.

Talking of drivers, I have had my computer ` hp pavilion xp` for over 7 years, and do drivers `wear` out !
I have seen ads for testing drivers. ( if it aint broke, leave it, seems the best advice )

    Hi.
Drivers are updated on a regular basis for a reason.
Never ever use a driver update program. I have never seen one work properly yet.
As Rich says always go to the manufacturer for the latest Driver updates.
I wouldn't be doing anything before Starbuck has given you the all clear in your other thread.
Then we can concentrate on getting all the latest drivers for you.

Whatever you do it would be a good idea to not use any of those driver sites. They are loading with what I like to call "spyware enablers" and simply upgrading drivers to upgrade drivers, something we used to do a long time ago is no longer considered proper practice. If you have a hardware component with issues, then it is a good idea to download and install the newest version of driver for it as a solution but I would suggest only then. In other words words that I used to cringe at have actually become the rule now and that is "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Drivers don't break but they do become outdated and when issues show up that is one place to look to update to solve issues.
