I dropped my computer (this might not have anything to do with it as I have dropped it before) and when I picked it up it was still working. So I started to close all my tabs on Chrome and my computer froze. After waiting a bit I just held the power key and it turned off. After turning it back on I got an error message that said something along the lines of

'Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media '

... This is where I (not computer knowledgeable at all) look in the original box for the receipt... I don't think the warranty expired but it might of... Either way I didn't find a receipt instead I found a disk that says... SAMSUNG system recovery media. I plop that into my computer and restart the computer.

BY THE WAY THIS IS A SAMSUNF QX410 LAPTOP.

Now whenever I start the computer it shows the Blue samsung startup screen with two option f2 for startup (Bios) and f4 for recovery. This is normal. I wait past this screen and get a black screen again and this time it says

    A disk read error occurred
press ctrl +alt +del to restart

And that's it.... How do I fix this...I don't care about losing data... I just don't want to spend a **** ton of money. Also... Big note... If I send it in for repairs or give it to a said tech savy cousin... Is there a chance it could open the last thing that was open before it froze... Cause then I would rather everything be deleted...Thank you... And please answer

Hi Boris. Welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Computers don't like being dropped. Looks like something has come adrift inside or some damage sustained.

Your Ram may have been dislodged, who's to know until inspection.

Windows no longer recognizes your Hard Drive.

I would RMA it back to the manufacturer if still under warranty or give it to your Tech Savy cousin to look at.

Thanks for the welcome :) so about the last part... There won't be any data for said cousin to see... Cause ironically it isn't supposed to be seen by specifically him. I only just realized how ironic that is... There's also other info that I rather people not see who have access to my laptop.

BY the way.... That was fast. I might stick around here rather than going to other forums where I wait for days for an answer.

You said you don't care about saving data and there is data on the drive you don't want anyone to see, this makes it difficult.
If your not confident enough to open and inspect connections I would take it to a computer shop and ask them to try and format the Hard Drive and reinstall Windows.

You really need to be present while they try and format the Drive. If the Hard drive is damaged and can't be formatted, then wait there till they hand you the old Hard drive in your hand as you don't want anyone to see the contents.

Can't think of a better solution at the moment.
