As with most of us we are always on the lookout for a Browser that completely satisfies our needs.
This version of Slim Browser was released a few days ago.
So far there is nothing I don't like about it.
It's near to a complete Browser that I have found so far.
    Light, Fast, Adblocker etc etc.
    Very impressed so far.
Roadtest it and would like to hear your thoughts.

OK Dougie, I have downloaded it and will install and try it out tomorrow, hopefully let you know how it goes later in my evening then.

I don't know about you, but I have tried and tested quite a few, some discarded along the way for various reasons, but even now I have as well as IE, Firefox, Opera, and Comodo Dragon, all nice in their own way but tend to stick with Firefox, so lets see if this slim browser will persuade me to move.

I have played with it a bit, got rid of some junk and it seems like a nice browser but it has one issue which will probably keep me away. It has a "speed dial" for a new tab but there seems to be no way to make the speed dial the home page. For me that is an absolute necessity.

My Home Page is Speed Dial.
I have Slim Browser set to open in speed Dial.

    That suits my preferences. :smile2:

So far all I can say is I downloaded and installed it, and like the general look of it, from information gained off another website myself and DSTM are members of, I now know it is using a slimmed down part of the same engine that Internet Explorer uses. Surprising what you can learn on line ain't it?
Anyway I haven't yet had much chance to do more than a basic explore of it, but it does seem quicker, doesn't hog large amounts of memory as Firefox does and seems OK so far. Weekend coming up soon and if the weather is inclement I will have more time then to go further.

I'm messing with it now DSTM. The only 2 draw backs I have come across is that I use "Last Pass" as a form fill add on in Firefox. Not sure if I can use it on Slim. It DOES have it's own "FormFill" incorporated into the browser which is cool!! The other problem I am coming across is it gives you the option to import your Firefox "Favorites" but when I try to, I get an error message. I'll keep messing around with it and get back to you............

I had a look re importing FF bookmarks and one suggestion was,

"Import using Internet Explorer and then you can use them when running Slimbrowser."
That sounds right as they both use the same Engine.

SlimBrowser has it's own "Quick Fill"
I haven't used this feature yet.

I also have my Speed Dial as my Home Page which I like.

The quick fill add-on is a LIKE for me in Slim. I was so used to Roboform for years but found that even the RoboForm add-on for FF was unstable and only worked part of the time. That's why I downloaded and used the "LastPass" add on for FF. Worked fine for FF. The quick fill in Slim is REALLY easy to use and pops-up automatically on the lower right of the page you are signing in to. More to come......I'm gonna "Play" with it some more today!!! :c00l:

Does it have built in Malware an addware protection? I use SpywareBlaster in conjuction with my default browser witch is FF. As far as I know SpywareBlaster only works with FF an IE.

    Thanks
    Wildman

Slim Browser runs on the same engine as IE so now problems with your other security, Wildman.

I am more than happy with IE9, having tried and got rid of FF.
