You do not need software as the card is recognized as a storage device and as Cindy suggests just copy and paste is all you do.

 

Never responded for never could get anything to work. Then was researching memory card readers and figuring out how to remove card. Misplaced the manuals. Never got anything to work by connecting camera to to PC. Camera is old- 1998, and I dont think the software is even made anymore, let alone updated.
For some reason, it just doesn't recognize camera. However I ordered an inexpensive card reader, it came, and I plugged it in and imported 48 pictures from compact flash card to Windows 7 computer. Imported to Photo Gallery and to Windows and they display in Fast Stone Image Viewer. Better just taking card out and plugging in instead of plugging camera and cords in. So now all is well and I can import pictures in one way or another to any or all PCs.

 

(note - I added this because I didnt see that my response had been posted, but after I clicked post it seems it DID.

I didnt respond because the camera just wasnt seen and I needed to research memory cards. Found one, ordered, it came yesterday and I tried it and it worked. So now I can simply plug memory card into device and plug it into the W7 PC and it imports the pictures. Very pleased with this. Says for XP, 7 & 8.

FYI - Clicked the video link in post #19. An obnoxious ad video began, the type you cannot stop until the AD is ready. I clicked on it and it froze the computer. Nothing responded and I had to remove battery and AC power plug to shut off the PC. Then when plugged it all back in I was able to start Windows normally. Windows Explorer did not respond and of course it searches for solution it never finds and I closed it. Then it started and i went back to this forum and it still had the 4 tabs open for the ad. I closed all and reopened and all was thankfully OK. Anyone else have this sort of experience? Are ads capable of crashing PCs and still being there when restarted? Or is just my run of bad luck. I hate these automatic ads you cant stop , whether videos or ad boxes but this is first time I couldnt turn it off. Not sure I like this sort of progress. Anyway, all is well now. Another issue put to rest.

 

Thanks, Cindy. Just wondered, as this is newest computer and never many issues with it. At present I have no Ad Blockers. First these boxes creep up or display on page covering most all content. After awhile an x might appear so can close it. Others give option to close it right away. Now thes ads appear that offer no option to close except responding to ad. And finally this video, which may or may not have been at fault but this PC never has just frozen up after I clicked something. Maybe I SHOULD get some ad blockers?

 

I am amazed that you had a problem with the video as like Cindy I also checked it without a problem and no adverts. However it does pay to have an advert blocker installed, and the one Cindy has linked to is both well known, and very good. I also use it.
It installs onto whichever browser you are using, so if you have and use more than one, for example Internet Explore, and Firefox, you will need to install it to both or more browsers.

Edit to add, I have now firstly disabled my AdBlockPlus, then went to the same video site and still didn't see any adverts, so even more strange as to why you got lumbered with an advert.

I tried the video again. This time didnt see the ad or the elapsed time but did hear some sound as the music and ad played. Not so long and didnt interfere with screen and then it stopped. The video played and I closed it down normally. Nothing at all like the first time. Some bread ad.
And, I went to site and installed AdBlockPlus. Thanks for tip. Then tried the video and only video - no ad AT ALL.
Also installed the Malwarebytes antiMalware.

 

I second what everyone is saying as not having an ad blocker today is foolish since most forms of Malware originate as a popup add.

 

Does ad blocker plus and malware bytes have to be installed for each browser, IE AND Firefox? I was using Firefox at the time and they said they were installing for Firefox browser.

 

Thanks Cindy. Will put it on all. Have IE but use mostly Firefox now. Seems to work better.
