DHCP database r/w error on 2003

I am getting a repeated cluster of DHCP errors in the event log:
    1014,1016,1010

1014, which is the first error, is
"The following problem occurred with the Jet database -1032: Jet database
    read or write operations failed."

There are no errors recorded in the DHCP log. It coincides with a DHCP
    database backup event.

This happens -- sometimes-- when DHCP tries to backup the DHCP database. I
may get days with no problems, then the same problem every hour for a couple
    of hours, then nothing again.

The disk is NOT short of space. I have restored the database. I have deleted
the current and the backup database. I am NOT fiddling with the file
permissions every couple of hours (and I didn't change any file
    permissions).

I am NOT having problems with DHCP allocation. I do NOT have any conflicts
(except when I stop the service and delete the databases).

Any idea what could be causing this problem?

  2. I have seen real time antivirus monitoring cause this; try disabling av (if
running) temporarily to see if the errors stop.
