Deleted files

Is there any way to retrieve deleted file after the recycle bin has been emptied?

 

Hi Dave. All depends how long since you have deleted the files because if you have continued to use the computer many files get written over and destroyed.
You can try free "Recuva" and see how you get on.

Like Dougie states, if you have not overwritten them you can retrieve them. Recuva is good, "Recover My Files" is better and there is a functional free trial version:

Actually no, I didn't try either one because they both want a credit card for use which I do not have. But I found one online called EASUES which was for free so I tried it but the files I was looking for never appeared. Thanks

 

That is correct I have never been asked for a credit card actually with either. You have to make sure you are doing the trial version with "Recover My Files" and if you use the Piriform site be really careful you take only Recuva as there is plenty of "bloatware", unwanted programs available there and at times you can feel like in a minefield as they come up..

 

ToDo Backup software works well as does Disk Copy from EaseUs but the restore is exceptionally slow is all.

 

You might not be asked for a credit card and you can download the apps but if you want to save or restore the file you will be asked to purchase a "key". So, same thing. I tried Easeus and Recover My Files and the file I was looking for was found but I was not allowed to open, view or restore the thing. I don't blame them they put all the effort into the software and they should be paid. It just won't happen with me because since I retired I tore up all my credit cards and swore never to use one again. Just hard luck all around but I thank you for the effort and info. I just give up.

 

Wait a minute Recuva is totally free and they do not ask for a credit card. I have downloaded it many times and I have also downloaded Recover my Files trial version tonight and never was asked for a credit card.

No, no. Let me clear something up Rich. The reason I did not download Piriform to begin with is because I kept getting the response, "this sit is not available", for whatever reason. So I went to the other options and all that is history. But since I ran out of options I thought I would give Piriform another try this morning and I was able not only to contact the site but also download the app. I tried out the app and believe me it found tens of thousands of lost and deleted files. I spent the better part of the morning searching for the file I wanted which I did find. Eventhough I found the file/folder, it contained no content that the app could recover so apparently I am indeed too late. Thanks very much for your help.

 

OH OK I knew there was some explanation. It is not my favorite site and you will find that many of these fringe third party software makers farm out free versions to download sites like Softpedia and Brothersoft that have some veryn scary software on them they try to unload onto everyone so I was concerned is all. The only third party download sites that are generally quite safe are File Hippo and Major Geeks and I was afraid maybe the link didn't work and you had wandered which is why I posted it again. Glad you were somewhat successful.
