Delete Users Roaming Profile

    Hello,

I need to delete a users roaming profile. There are some registry entries
that have been left behind from a poorly written GPO by a former
administrator. Can i just simply rename their current roaming profile folder
and when they log in the next time the system will recreate them a new one.
Doing this wont affect any folder redirection (all mydocs;desktop etc are
redirected to a different volume and path, but on the same server?

    Thanks

    Matt

Yes, you can do what you wish. But just for clarification, are you talking
about a Terminal Services profile or a roaming profile (for desktop users)?

Yes It is a Terminal Services roaming profile. The problem I have is the
sites button is greyed out in internet explorer so the user cannot add their
own trusted sites. I have been through our group policy (which are in
loopback merge mode) and cannot see why this disabled. So my thinking is of
a last resort for deleting the profile and hoping that the users registry is
cleared along with the junk settings.

    Thanks

OK. For future reference, I would avoid using the word "roaming" when you
mean a TS profile. It will merely confuse things. It's either a TS profile
or a roaming profile for desktop users.

That isn't going to help - I think you've got this set in a GPO somewhere. I
suggest you post in m.p.windows.group_policy for more help with this sort of
thing - I'm setting up my reply to crosspost there. Not sure where this
    policy setting might live.

  5. Regarding your ghosted IE buttons, hopefully I remember this correctly.

    If you have a domain\GPO that explicitly defines sites trust level;

    - with IE6 on the client, these sites become explicit and cannot be altered,
including addition of other sites by users.

    - with IE7, users can add to the site list, but not alter any of the
    existing domain\GPO defined items.

.... or it's the other way around. 8)
