DDNS doesn't register automatically

On a Win2k8 server I enabled "register this connection's addresses in DNS".
Left blank for "DNS suffix for this connection". "use this connection's DNS
suffix in DNS registration" is not selected. "Append primary and
connections specific DNS suffixes" is slected. "append parent suffixes of
teh primary DNS suffix" is eanbled.

it doens't add the A record automatically. If I do ipconfig/registerdns it
WILL add the entry in DNS.

Why is that? Should it log an error if can't register automatically?
What's the interval to refresh the registration with DDNS enabled? Is the
value in the registry I can verify?

The settings appear to be the defaults, which are fine.

If this is a DHCP client, when it gets a new IP, it will register into DNS
at IP acquisition. If a static entry, it should register right away when you
change it, and upon reboot.

Of course, this will work only as long as only the internal DNS servers are
in the machine's IP properties, and the Primary DNS Suffix of the machine
matches the zone name in DNS.

Are there any errors in the event logs?
