CPU Test

Wondering if there is a CPU Test,you Guys could recommend,that is accurate,and what benchmarks should a dual core processor have?

I was beginning to think my Thread, was invisable.

 

Sometimes the people who know the answer are just not on line. I know I could not help you out.

 

The reason, why I posted, is that the moment, I have more than say 20-30 cpu,my Computer performace, dies to dial up speed.
I didnt wan't to just install any program, to test my processor,and was seeking Techies help,in selecting a reputable Test.
Normally I didn't have a problem till the CPU hit around 100%,and I find this odd,the way my Computer is acting.
I just have to be more patient,as you say.

ok I get the slow bit but are we talking internet? or CPU.

Its been a long long time since I used any software for this and generally when I used to, different benchmarking software gave different results.

OK so when your CPU is at 100%, things slow down? this could be two things

1 the CPU just cant do any more than what it already is, and once its caught up things speed up

2 the CPU is overheating when under full load, and after it has cleared its load, and starts to cool down things gradually get faster, and would quite often crash or hang.

 

These are the Temps after 6hrs.
I will load up the CPU later,and check the temps.
Have to go out shortly.
Anything here,I should be concerned about? Thanks.
TMPIN0 AND TMPIN2 seem high, but I am no expert.

 

All Looks nice and cool there Dougie, CPU Cores are at 16 and 18 respectively, AMD Chips un hotter tha there Intel counterparts anyway and have an operating range of upto 72C and there should be an alarm set to go off if they get to 68C and then shut down at 72,

sorry if my previous post worried you, and to be honest about the tmpin, I had never heard or seen that reading before, but after a quick Google yours are cooler than most,

LOL actually they are giving a false reading, They read a sensor-port that isn't connected. from what I found out.

I have 5 MB download speed,which I am happy with.
This Computer has given me trouble near daily, since it was built 8mths ago.
Been rebuilt twice, and has Windows reinstalled 3 times by the Computer Shop, and the last time by myself.
Cold load of a site is quick first off,say avg 3 sec.You would think with the cookies the next loadings of the same site would be as quick or quicker.
No way.I can load CHF in say 3 sec,then it will take me up to 10 sec thereafter.Any site.
Often a site wont load as it runs out of time.
Heat is not a problem.Never seen the GPU above 56C even in heatwaves.
I hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete,when it is slow and Task manager says CPU is around 4-6%,on average.
The hard drive is defragged,Temp files removed and nothing seems to increase the speed to what it should be.
Another I had built at the same time flies,as does the spare PC which is old yet still kicks this ones Butt.
Most times when it slows to 10 sec web page loading I immediately run a speed test with Speedtest.net and always above 5 MB speed,so I am at a loss to know whats wrong with this sucker.
Even Speedtest.net can take 30 sec to load when it's slow.

 

what ethernet drivers do you have installed or are you connecting wirelessly?

 

Ok so this is what seems to happen, then you check the Internet speed as per this

It seems that the actual download speed is ok, even when it seems to respond slowly - thats how I read it.

Is it just the Internet that seems slow to respond, or is it everything - so say when the net seems slow, what happens if you open another program, does it take longer than usual or is it ok?

Also, it may be a long shot, but I'm wondering if you have security software that is causing some kind of delay, maybe scanning in the background, or a firewall that is playing up - just thinking aloud.

 

I was just getting some particulars from device manager.
Its a RTL 8169/8110
The Driver it had was 5.663.1212.2006
I updated to 5.719.325.2009

I didn't see any yellow Gismos and thought the drivers were OK.
Do you think this was a possible to cause the prob?
Hi Hatsoff,yes when it's slow everything is slow,real slow.
3 PC'S run through a Netgear Wired modem Router DG834pn.
Running Windows Firewall
AntiVir personal free
Malware bytes
SAS Pro.
I will try it out and see what improvement there is.

 

Hi Doug,

The best Monitoring software you can use for temps and voltages is your BIOS.

If I were you and wanted to test your CPU only, I would use a Futuremark test and deselect all the GPU tests (as this is a widely used GPU program) but it also challenges the CPU

I chose PCmark05_V120_0906a.exe.

Have you checked in task manager that both of the cores are active?

 

I am not advanced enough to know how to do that.

Ok, when you open task manager are go to the performance tab, at the top it says CPU usage history and there are 1,2, 4 boxes depending on how many cores you have - are both showing readings?

That is right then Doug, as you have shown, the Performance tab shows 2 seperate boxes, with graphs displaying their usage, this is one box per core as Dalo was looking for.

 

All a learning curve for me.
I did try Futuremark,but found it too advanced.
I downloaded all requirements, and run a test.
Said 4 tests were failing, and couldn't see what they were.
Also, it says I can test the CPU,but couldn't find out where, to do that either.
I will just have to get by,without the test.
I will run this PC for awhile, and see if by updating the Drivers,has made a difference.
