Cpu Fan

I am running an AMD x4 Phenom 2 Black edition CPU.

The issue I am having,the fan is too noisy,and get a whine up.

The RPM is around 4500.

Core temp in the mid 50's

Wondering  the easiest way to drop fan speed,without installing programs,if possible.

I wasn't told these are noisy suckers.I can hear it 2 rooms away.


Thinking about an aftermarket cooler,if  they are quieter.Don't know.

Some are, some aren't, some come with a variable speed controller, I had a similar problem till a couple of days ago, when the fan, turned out to be the cpu cooler fan, stopped working, so I replaced it with a standard 80mm fan, now the refrigerated truck has gone and I can hear the air flow again lol.

an After market CPU cooler will be more efficient than the standard one but not necessarily quieter. but changing the Fan or the cooler should resolve your problem, Just need to read the specifications for the replacement, and buy one with a low noise level.

This issue is solved.

Turns out these particular 4X CPU's have noisy fans.

Replaced the CPU with another new one,and the same.

Reduced the RPM'S in the Bios with little change in the Dec.

Could not buy a 70mm fan here, and  AMD uses 70mm,

instead of the normal 60mm or 80mm.

Ended up, using the fan off my old AMD 2 core processor,and now silent. 

All is well that ends well.
