Ok, Hi i'm new here and just built my new computer, I'm running windows 7 64bit and all the hardware is brand new and is supposed to support the 64bit interface, well I got everything running and was playing around checking out the new system and decided to go ahead and load my first game, call of duty4, first thing I noticed was that the game was running great but was'nt using the full screen as it did on my old computer, so I decided to go and change the setting in the graphics menu when the computer shut down and can't get anything out of it since, no lights, fans, nothing. Now prior to this the computer had been running fine for about 6 hours and the only thing funny that i detected was a little interference in my sound, kindof a static clicky sound, not terrible but noticeable. So, heres what I've tried so far, My computer has a new antec true power blue series psu and is supposed to shut down if there is any shorts or other problems with your computer and will not power back up until these are cleared. So I decided since the last thing I was doing was messing with the graphics that maybe it was the video card, so I completly remove it and disconnected it from the computer and still got nothing, so now I've reinstalled it, ive tried checking every wire to make sure they were all connected and don't see any problems there either, the one that goes to the power switch is intack at the motherboard but I can only assume it is making contact at the switch itself without pulling things apart farther to get at it.

    Hardware that I have installed..

Gigabyte motherboard with amd phenom ii x3 processor
video card sli 9800 gtx pci express
    4 gig of ddr2 ram
    two sony dvd drives
samsung hard drive(windows 7, 64bit intalled on it) and western digital drive wich i have not partitioned yet.
    multimedia reader card(for sd cards)
all my drives are sata drives including the dvd players

One thing I did'nt mention is that I did check the processor heat on the computer and it was doing just fine before for all this.

well that's about it, hope someone can help, thanks.

Do you have another power supply you can put in it to see if it boots up?

If you do try that. If it still doesn't boot then it could be the motherboard, processor or even the memory. It takes time troubleshooting these types of problems.

I would follow BSchwarz's advice and see if you can source another PSU to try use in your system to boot up.

Failing that, the next step I would say to check the RAM, you have 4GB? I'm guessing that is 2 sticks of 2GB? Try removing one stick and try booting up, then swap sticks over and try booting with just the other one. But only after trying to swap the PSU if you can.

Let us know how it goes.

Hmmm, Have you tried clearing the BIOS? remove the round battery that is in the MOBO wait for about 20-30 seconds and then reinsert it (do this with the power off)
fire it up and see if anything happens.

As the system was fine before and the components are new I would be less inclined to think it is faulty hardware (although it can happen right out of the box)

Have you double checked all the wires from the PSU to the components especially the 6pin PCI-E that go into the GPU, check that the 4 pin or 8 pin ATX is attached onto the MOBO (near the CPU socket itself) and that you have the CPU cooler header going into the CPU header port on the MOBO

If all else fails take a pic of the inside of the case in as high a resolution as you can

I will try all of these suggestions, but I don't have a spare psu.

ok, i tried different ram configurations and nothing, then pulled out battery for bios, nothing and check all connections, then tried disconnecting one piece of hardware at a time and still nothing, so now I pulled out the psu and am going to get another one but a little scared at what made this one go out.

I plugged in the psu now with nothing on it and turned it on, took out my multimeter and turned the selector dial to dc 20v and put the black lead on one of the molex connectors on the black wire and the red lead on the yellow wire and I still am not getting nothing, so for some reason this power supply went bad after just six hours of use, kinda scary, don't know wether to buy new psu and send this one back, because I'm afraid if theirs a short anywhere it may kill the next one.

    what do you guys think?

Antec is real good with RMA's. Send it back and they will send you a new one. More than likely the place you bought it from will exchange it since it's new. Try there first then go to Antec.

Power supplies just like any hardware can be bad as soon as they are made. You just got a bad one. Better it just died and didn't hurt anything else. It could have taken the motherboard, cpu and all other components with it.

Just thought of something. Is this a modular ps?

It could be just a bad cable.

I not really sure if it is modular are not, It had a lot of cable already coming out of it and then you could add a few to it if it were necessary. but I did check these also and none of them work, another thing is the fan on the power supply would'nt turn on anymore either, or do they only come on when you have loads on the power supply, thanks for all your help. I bought this off of newegg and all other hardware also, but I wrote antec about the problem and just got and email from them to send the psu back but not the modular cables if this is a modular psu, can you tell me what their talking about and why?

It certainly seems that is what you have. Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modular_Power_Supply_Unit

Before you send anything back can you take a pic of the inside of the PC and we can check that everything was/is connected right and you arent just missing something.
From all the PSU's I have used/tested If you plug a PSU into a wall, and turn the power on it wont do anything.......

Modular means that you can add/remove cables from the PSU if and when you do/dont need them

Moving this thread to PSU as that seems to be the main issue here.

thanks guys for the information and quick responses. And I'm sorry, I already sent it back for a new one, but if I have similar problems with this next one I'll get that picture and let you know. Thanks again.
