I bought a new computer the other day and this is the first time i had a computer with 2 storage things. it has the smaller one which i have learned is the SSD and the bigger one which is the HHD and from what i understand is keeping the op on the SSD makes it boot up faster but everything i download gets saved to the SSD and it runs out of space quick and i cant figure out how to make things save to the HHD.

Hi FoliagedPegasus. Welcome to Computer Help Forums.

Locate the data you wish to store on you other Hard Drive. If it is a large Hard Drive I would partition it first.
You can move all the files at one time if your careful.

Hold the "CTRL" Key down and highlight every file you wish to move, Right click on one highlighted file and Right click Copy.
Right click on "My Computer" > Right click on the Hard Drive and choose "Open Right click in open space and choose "New" > Name the Folder to say eg "SSD Storage" > Right click and open the Folder > Then Right click Paste.
That's all there is to it.

Try I file first so you get the idea.
    Any probs just ask.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :)

Sorry but you have to give us more to work with.  What version of Windows are you using?  General specifications of the system?  We can throw out general information without knowing your system but it may not apply if our guess as to what you are running is wrong.

I will still take a guess and figure that you are running Windows 7.  If you are running the system from an SSD and want everything else to go to another drive there are several settings that you will need to change.

I will start off with a link that may give you more insight on using the Library features in Windows 7.
    http://www.techgenie.com/latest/how-to-work-with-libraries-in-windows-7/
Not the most inclusive source of info but may give you an idea as to what Libraries are about.

As far as straight downloads look at the bottom of the screen when you start.  Click on the pull down arrow for save and you will have the option to save as.  You can do this each time or set a default for your download location.

Don't you think it would be a bit easier to just change the Library default settings?  Add a folder to the library that is located on the HD and remove the location on the SSD...  Seems a lot easier than having to constantly having to copy/paste. ;)  Of course this assumes that we are talking about a Windows 7 or 8 system.

After reading this post I have come to the conclusion that you are both right and a lot depends on just how far the member is comfortable going based on his level of expertise.

DSTM gave a simple way for a beginner to move files from one HDD to another.  At one point or another the member is going to have to copy and paste. DSTM is also correct in that it is merely housekeeping from that point on.

That being said, jaylach has taken it one step further by basically showing the member how to go to the next level and essentially change the path and avoid future housekeeping.

As I said, in either case there is going to have to be some copying done. So please read the posts together and try te see how they dovetail. DSTM's solution is based on the member being a self professed beginner but then we never really know what that means. :)

Well i am running windows 7 and I am running the system on the ssd but i want everything else to go to the hdd. my ssd is 32 gigs and my hhd is 500 gigs. What i wantto do is somehow make it so all the programs i install go to the hdd nd not the ssd. Like when i download zune software it doesn't allow me to chose the destination and automatically saves to the ssd.

That is a totally different animal than dealing with where documents and such are stored. Some installs will allow you to pick a location, some will not. Those that will usually have an option for advanced or custom install.
