I've literally tried every possible phrase to describe my problem when searching google on how to fix this and nothing seems to match or work.

While recently being told to system restore my computer by an HP tech in an attempt to fix what was actually hardware misfunctions I was able to run my usual browser, Google Chrome, for about a week. Now I get a message when trying to visit any site through the broswer that the webpage is not available, yada yada yada. I've also installed Firefox and Safari and I'm getting the same problem. IE works, just nothing else. I've already went to tools > internet options > connections > LAN settings > and made sure the 3rd box was unchecked. It hasn't worked for me. I'm really tired of using IE and would like if I could have help with this :/

Welcome to Computer Help Forums! :)

Are you using a firewall? It is possible that other browsers are being blocked.

    Thanks :]

Yes I am, I just added Google Chrome to the list and made sure it was checked to be unblocked-- I am still experiencing this issue.

And dropping your Security Slider doesn't help?

Try turning off your Firewall for a moment and Try.

2 firewalls is a bad idea but if they are both disabled it must be something else. Are you using a router (wireless) or are you hard wired?

I have a wireless box, but I'm directly hardwired into it. The Wifi is turned off on both the computer and box.

Sorry for the questions. Are you running 32 or 64 Bit.?

If it's 64 Bit, there's  still compatability  issues, with some software.

You could run Windows7, in XP MODE, and see what happens.

    Also try safe mode.

If you are running a Modem/Router I would be checking the Firewall settings there, also.

Or wait for further suggestions,as I have run out of ideas,as to where your issue is,Sorry. :)
