I can’t sign up for any message board forums with my acer netbook. I could do it but now I can’t. I can go through all the sign up page info and then submit it but I never get an email back at any of my three, Kim Komando Suggested, email accounts. I tried several forums at random when I got suspicious. I then went to my other, “ GIANT Toshiba”, laptop and I could sign up just fine. I also signed up for one on the regular desk top PC.
So I don’t know if my computer ACER is not actually sending the sign up info or the sites are blocking what I am sending? Could I have spyware that is stealing the info??? I ran AVG, Malwarebytes, and Trendmicro Housecall.

I have had two minor problems lately but I don’t think they are the culprit and to be honest I don’t know if I have had the problem for a long time or a short time. I don’t sign up for lots of forums. I did sign up for two shooting forums 3 months ago so I know it did work on the little Acer.

The Problems..First, I was having trouble downloading ,”Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 x86 (KB2446708)
So I found the following answer on a Microsoft forum and it worked.
    1. Go to Program and Features, click it.
    2. Scroll down to Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, right click it.
    3. It will give you a choice of Uninstall/Change, click it.
    4. Then, it will give a choice to Repair it, pick repair it. It will take about 4-10 minutes to repair (with my PC) experience may vary.
    5. When completed, go to you update center, and update it again.
THIS IS THE INFO ON THE SECURITY UPDATE..A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise your Windows-based system that is running the Microsoft .NET Framework and gain complete control over it. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

The other problem happens when I visit two local TV news sites. It is a popup that says” This Page Has Been Modified to Prevent Cross Site Scripting” On that, I think the problem is with their site and not my computer but I could be wrong. When I googled , “cross site scripting” it got way past my computer knowledge level very fast.

This problem seems to have started after I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) or the Net Framework fix.
HERE IS THE INFO ON THE SERVICE PACK..Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is a recommended collection of updates and improvements to Windows that are combined into a single installable update. The service pack can help make your computer safer and more reliable. A typical installation will take about 30 minutes to complete, and you will have to restart your computer about halfway through the process.

The computer is a 6 month old acer D255..very small laptop net book.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

    Hi Glock, welcome to CHF

Which browser are you using...if you've just been using IE8, then try downloading and using another browser.

When you've done that. Please get back to us.

Thanks PSE, I downloaded firefox and it worked. I think I just got tired of always downloading IE fixes...I am sure IE will fix the problem but not before they deny that a problem exists for a couple of months.
