Can't access server from desktop

    Lovro Guest

    Hello,

I have a strange problem. Suddenly I can't access to the server from one
desktop. I can ping server, but I cannot access with no TCP servise (HTTP,
RDP, ...). The desktop works fine, but after that I cant access any of "TCP
service" on that specific server. I can access all other server withot any
    problem.

If I change the IP address on the desktop, it started work normaly. After
that I tried to use that (old) IP address on another PC and that (new) PC
stop working with this server, but I can ping it and server can also ping it
(also check arp and all MAC addresses are correct).

If I leave the desktop without any modification, the desktop start to work
after 3 or 4 days normaly.

The problem occured occasionally on different desktops with different IP
addresse and I can't find reason for that. Is there any idea?
There is no firewall nor filtering on the server.

    Regards,
    Lovro

I recommend you start by posting the output of the following command when
executed on the server and on your workstation:

    ipconfig /all

When you write "Can't access server from desktop", I assume you mean to say
"Can't access server shares from workstation PC". If so then posting the
output from the following command, executed on the workstation, would also
    help:

    net use Q: \\Server\SomeShare

Hi. I believe I replied to your identical post in another group. In the
future, please don't multipost - if you need to post to multiple groups,
it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a single message to a handful of
relevant groups (separate the NG names with commas) so that everyone can
follow the thread. Multiposting wastes everyone's time, including yours, and
may lead to your actually getting *less* help rather than more.

If you tried \\172.21.242.41\temp, does it work?

    How about \\noe.aaa.si\temp?

If the above works, but not using the NetgBIOS name, is the workstation in a
vm? Is it in a VLAN? If so, are there any rules blocking NetBIOS ?

I may also suggest to use WINS.
