I have enjoyed being notified when a new email comes in but now as of late the number of notifications keep increasing even though I read and delete the mail. I have over 1400 according to the counter but currently there are less than 10 in my box.

I have searched yahoo profile and also on line to no avail. Could someone instruct me as to how I can stop these notification notices?

    Thanks,
    Glad

    It is Yahoo mail.

I am up to 1500 now and climbing even after I deleted them when read.

My operating system is Windows 7.

Place a check mark next to all inbox email and mark them all "as read".
(Or hit the K key) This should knock the total back to zero....

I have tried everything I know. I had deleted yahoo completely and reinstalled several times.

My email notifications are a whopping 3000+ and still climbing. Actual email is down to 10.

I have also went back to the basic email and still no help.

Yahoo Mail is a web based email so there is really nothing for you to uninstall.

(Unless you have installed the Yahoo toolbar which is not necessary.)

Did you try the instructions I gave you in Post #4?

If that didn't work try placing your cursor over the Inbox, located on the left hand side underneath Compose.
Right click on Inbox and select Mark All Read. This should bring your total back to zero.

Are you talking about in Yahoo Mail itself or Windows showing you you have unread email messages in the welcome screen?

Well I am still having problems. I have a feeling it is with yahoo messenger so I uninstalled the messenger two days ago and I cannot get it back. I have tried everything I know. And the email notifications were up to over 3000+ when messenger was uninstalled. That is why I think the email problem was with messenger.

    I do miss yahoo messenger.

I keep getting message of firewall. I know nothing about a firewall.

I am lost to what I need to do.

Your firewall is most likely blocking Yahoo Messenger.
Disable your firewall till you reinstall Yahoo.
    What Firewall are you using?
    Have you got Norton installed?
