Can only boot to safe mode!!

First of all what does Network Adapter in Device Manager and why are you looking at video drivers.
Try the Vista driver though before doing anything.

 

Above is a pic of the driver before I uninstalled it. Windows installed the same exact driver after rebooting.

I guess next is to download something from the NVIDIA website? How do I tell what I have and what to choose?

Something just hit me. This is a laptop. Is there anything wrong with the wireless on it?

 

I have Windows 7 32-bit.

Thanks for the link Cindy, I downloaded that driver to a usb drive on my mac and then installed it on the HP laptop, it gave the black screen of death. So then I uninstalled the driver and rebooted windows normal and got to the internet. Then rebooting again gives black screen of death. I did this a couple of times. If I boot to safe mode and uninstall the driver, then reboot to windows normal I can get to the internet, then when rebooting again it goes black.

I went into devices and printers, right clicked on the PC, then chose device installation settings, and chose "Never install driver software from Windows Update".

I can reboot repeatedly and still get to the internet and no black screen so far.

Device manager still shows that the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller cannot start (code 10).

 

Hi Brad. Just read this about a guy that has Windows7 x32 bit.
Wndows7 x32bit drivers would not install for him (code10)
Maybe worth trying the Vista drivers.

I'm not sure what product I have so I'm not sure which driver to download..

 

I tried lots of the Vista drivers on NVIDIA's website and couldn't find one that worked. Then I did a chat with NVIDIA and a very helpful person told me that I probably have the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M video driver and the nForce 630M motherboard. So then I went back and downloaded the closest driver I could find from NVIDIA and installed it. It completed the install correctly and I rebooted. In device manager, I still have the exclamation point on the NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller and the "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" in the device status.

I have since rebooted at least 5 times and can access the internet fine.

I don't understand this. If the networking controller cannot start, how am I getting to the internet?

And I don't know if in the future it will just give me screen issues again or if the NVIDIA download installed an updated video driver or something else.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

 

Brad at this point we count our blessings and move on....I just spent 2 hours trying to get a printer hooked to a Windows XP pc over a network and finally did 6 things and it worked. I have no clue which of those things I did fixed it and have left the premisis quite pleased with myself. TG no one asked what fixed it in the office!

 

Cindy just let it go...I have one computer I fixed the other day with a big red "x" over the internet screen and it runs just fine on every browser...life is short we don't have to explain everything. Besides "the bang" could be for wireless adapter or 1394 forgetaboutit....
