This has nothing to do with the topic but it is another chance at a teaching moment. When using the "Link" in the toolbar you can name your link whatever you want. For example this is Patrick's HDD Link. hard drive

"My Link" is just a default.

OK. Getting different opinions for wider scope and got these configurations from a friend.

    Processor:

    1. Intel Core i7 930 Processor BX
    2. Intel Core i5 750 Processor

    Hard Drive:

    1. Western Digital WD15EARS 1.5TB hard drive
    2. Hitachi Deskstar Internal Hard drive

    Graphics Card:

    1. BFG GeForce GTX 260 896MD GD
    2. XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5
    3. BFG GeForce 9800 GT 1GB GDDR

    Memory:

    1. Corsair Core i7 Dominator 6GB
    2. OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum RAM
    3. OCZ SLI 4096MB PC6400 DDR2
    4. Corsair Dual Channel 4096MB PC

He then asked me to find a suitable motherboard that was compatible with all and then mail him to double-check the final build. From his options, I am thinking about the following configuration.

Intel Core i7 930 Processor BX
Western Digital WD15EARS 1.5TB hard drive
    XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB DDR5
    OCZ PC3-10666 Platinum RAM

But then, I know nothing about them. I have just selected the components that I think will do good. Please modify them without any hesitance if they are useless. He also gave me the following advice to make a successful build.

    1. Select processor.
    2. Select RAM.
    3. Select graphics card.
    4. Select COMPATIBLE power supply.
    5. Select COMPATIBLE motherboard.
    6. Select a good hard drive.
    7. Select a processor fan.
    8. Select case.
    9. Select mouse, keyboards, monitor, speakers, etc.

So, I will try to follow this. Again, all ideas are appreciated.

People, could you please give me a rough draft of my configuration. I need to make a backup draft in case I need to urgently order the components.

    Right,

Due to budget I would say:-
    MOBO - Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H £74
    CPU - Intel Core i3-530 £92
    RAM - Corsair XMS PC3-10666
    GPU - HD 5770 1GB £127
CPU Cooler Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 £16
    PSU - Corsair CX400W £42
    HDD - Samsung Spinpoint F3 320GB - £35
    Optical - Samsung SH-D162D £12

Now depending on whats left you can get case, better optical, or better CPU/GPU.
I didnt have time to do the coversion but in the UK the above would cost around £500
