Does this mean the cpu is ruined?
Its running, its booting up. I checked the pins there seems to be no bends.

Win 7 is running but asrock told me the USB drivers are not installed

    but the pc runs.

    What do you think?

the usb drivers are not installed for win7 so they told me to patch win 7 on a usb and install it that way but I did it from dvd drive.

It boots up and loads win 7

    Its an intel cpu.

    I read this.

"Your lucky because intel boards are different since the pins are in the socket. the cpu itself only has the contacts which its pressure from the bracket to make connection. If it was an AMD cpu where the pins are on the cpu itself you would have busted most of the pins once you applied pressure."

The pins are on the motherboard.
    I have that processor.
Count the pins up and down and crossways.
No way it will install the wrong direction, without damage.
I build them all the time.
    Intel i5 6600 processor.

I haven't the time to discuss what others say.

Before you destroy the Motherboard, which well maybe, I suggest you take your PC to a Computer shop and let them do it for you.

No way with your eyes you can see what pins are bent, or your friend for that matter, without a magnifying glass.

I have to agree that would be the best thing to do. There just has been to much that has unfortunately gone wrong and it needs to be straightened out properly.

Lets us know what you find out.

It seem installing the cpu incorrectly was the only error.
Stupid mistake but it was easy enough to get fixed.. My friend has a working pc now and it is a nice rig.

    Hello everyone.
The mother board with bent pins was given to me.

How many pins would cpu bend through incorrect installation?

    Hi Pete.
That is an impossible question to answer. There is no set number.
In my experience, I have seen one pin bent up to about 40 pins bent.
