    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]Hi all,[/background]

    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]I recently bought a Acer Aspire One minilaptop which was running Windows XP. I wanted to run Linux from a bootable USB, but during the startup i came across some video settings which i didnt understand. When i pressed enter everything froze and i couldnt exit trough the on/off button, so i pulled out the battery.[/background]

    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]When i turn it on now the capslock and numlock light go on for less than a second, but the harddrive(?) light stays off. My screen stays black (like it isnt turned on) and the laptop makes a thinking noise like a sirene (hard, soft, hard, soft) which are about 5 seconds each.[/background]

    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]Im pretty sure i didnt change the boot order but just chose to boot from usb for this one time. I already tried using another monitor, but that didnt work. It also doesnt matter wether the usb with linux is plugged in or not.[/background]

    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]Anyone knows what this problem is and how to fix it?[/background]

    [background=rgb(246, 246, 246)]Mark[/background]

    Hello Mark79 and Welcome to CHF,

    Were you in the BIOS making changes when you pressed Enter?

    Upon further research, the black screen is a common problem with the Acer Aspire One.
    The fix for it is a BIOS update. http://acer.custhelp...aoa150-netbook? You will need a
    USB flash drive.
