Is there a man alive that hasn't done a version of that with the wash, I wonder??!! :) (And I blame women for that - yup, I do, because it's up to us to ensure those cute little boys know how to sort laundry and do their own wash and wield an iron, too - long before they grow up - huge smile!).

That photo made me think of how wonderful it would be to take a photo of a child - and have everything black and white except for their eyes. (Don't children have the most incredible eyes?!).

I can see all the people sitting around little cafe tables in the background - all the poor empty chairs must feel so lonely!! It looks like it would be such a perfect place to just sit and watch Mother Nature.

I assume that's seaweed hanging from the fence, therefore it's likely low tide :). What a terrific area you live in, Bob - good photos!

Old tram lines and cobblestones (1) ... what a setting for the romance of the past! Conjures up images of ladies ambling down the street with their long skirts trailing behind them and gentleman doffing their hats. Thanks Bob!

I can nearly imagine it with the sails in place and flying across the sea! Do they allow tours on it? Thanks again, Bob! :)

The oldest and longest commissioned war ship in the world, I have a little ambition to go and see her one day, I think the old tall ship's have a magical quality about them.

and that one has such an important story to it as well, a true monument to when Britain was Great, and to a great British person.

Thanks for posting a picture of her, History brought to life ;)

What a beautiful statue! I've always been fascinated with the ability to create something in such a large scale, yet with such intricate details - and thanks so much for sharing this one with us, Bob!

3D The old and the new

HMS Victory is a first rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, started in 1759 and launched in 1765, most famous as Lord Nelson's flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar. She is the oldest naval ship still in commission, and now sits in dry dock in Portsmouth, England as a museum ship.

HMS Ark Royal (R07), the last Invincible-class light aircraft carrier to be completed, is the fifth ship of the Royal Navy named in honour of the flagship of the English fleet that defeated the Spanish Armada. Ark Royal is slightly larger than her sister ships and during construction she was fitted with a steeper ski-jump ramp, (twelve degrees, as opposed to seven degrees of the Invincible) to improve STOVL take-off performance for the Harrier aircraft.

This is true Mara but it's a shame that so many people who live here take things for granted, and spend their time running past buildings and sites of interest on the way to where ever without giving them a second glance
