That is what I always did when I used a different browser....I made IT the default then went back to the one I wanted to continue with and made IT the default. I shall experiment some more with this. I never used to get a black screen or window like this at all.

The black window has a script At bottom that reads "Waiting for cache" . Was not there when I took the screen shot.

Rather than closing the window, what happens if you click the reload button (it looks like refresh.jpg

Sorry for the size I kept making it smaller but it is still HUGE!

It keeps on being black and showing waiting for cache notice until I click the tray shortcut icon and then it opens normally..I tried this a few times to be sure.

I lost track now. We asked that you try other browsers. Which browser is causing the problem.

I am using the Google Chrome browser as default but also have installed Edge, Firefox, and a shortcut for them in the tray which I guess is called the quick-launch if my memory is correct.
I did try the other browsers but it may have still been using Google default so I shall try that again after making each the default for the test. I do not believe I did that the first time.

Just launch Google's Chrome browser. When it comes up, if it's not the default browser it'll ask you if you want to make it the default browser.

Thaks. I think I got it reset now. But I believe that evenwith other browsers the black screen appears at first then I have to close and reopen it. Not a real issue though.
I have forgotten why I installed edge and firefox. Used t use firefox only but then it needed updating and I believe I switched to Google Chrome instead and stayed with that.

Do you have a spinning hard drive or an ssd? (I'm seeing this issue occurs with an ssd drive.)

I still get the black screen on many websites with Google but I just close window and click the site again and it opens normally. Have not tried the other browsers fr it is easier just to close and reopen. Maybe the drive type is causing this but it never happened before.

You need to reset your Chrome browser like we suggested a week ago.

I just looked back at how to do this and made a copy of directions. Plan to attempt this. Thanks for the reminder.

Messed up again. Nightmare with passwords. Wound up system restore two or three times and finally got it all working again. May give up on reset.

I find just re-opening window is easier than fooling with re-setting or using differrent browsers. This usually works.
