All the same good wishes to you too Bob, and yes, a good photo, how did you get that close without the air rat flying off? or did you use a good quality zoom lens from a distance?
Please note I do not care for pigeons at all, dirty creatures that make too much mess and can carry some nasty biology in the mess they leave behind.

Its shot at 300 zoom but quite close still. I hate air rats as much as you do the bloody things keep me awake early morning in the summer with there awful call. I could not resist the photo though.

It's a great photo! I have no animosity towards pigeons, since it is a rare thing to see one here! :snckr:
Besides, I have a liking for birds.....

 

Pigeons are fine in woodlands or the country, but when roosting and living in the town or city, and here in the UK most towns are over run with them, they quickly become the same as most other vermin, mainly because they do carry some nasty diseases and spread them around in their droppings.
The main problem stems from the fact that they are a homing bird, and always return to the place of birth. With each parent having several offspring each time, they very quickly over populate one small area unless something is done about it. That of course has to be done in a humane manner, but even so, if not done on a regular basis, they can make a property untenable in a quite short time.

The moorhen ( a young one I think ) was paddling in my pond.
