This is a decent vid that should interest anyone who likes world war 2 aircraft. Especially our fine members from Australia. Hope you enjoy this.

Thanks Doughie and it was no trouble, I just forgot how to do it. I love old planes as well and as a point of interest, there is an old aircraft restoration club, here in Windsor, that is restoring a mosquito as we speak. There were a lot of mosquitoes built in Canada, during the war as well. In Milton not far from Toronto. After the war the Royal Canadian Air Force still had a large number of these planes in their fleet. They used them to map with photography the high arctic and our northwest territories. Long story short, this club found a plane in the NWT and they are restoring it now.

    Cheers: Rich

Wonderful aircraft. Together with the Spitfire, Wellington, Halifax, Hurricane etc, together with the brave crews, what would we have done without them. Occasionally we get a spitfire or Hurricane fly over the house when there is a display locally. The sound of the Merlin engine is always enough to make me rush outside for a look.

Thanks for posting Rich...I just watched the video. I used to run a construction company, and my first trade was carpentry, so this was really interesting for me. It's amazing how strong the construction would have been...

Your welcome, I am glad you all enjoyed the vid. The really neat thing was, if say perhaps a wing got shot off or part of it, they would simply land and have a carpenter replace or rebuild it. That was the beauty of building the aircraft out of wood. Sad thing is, there was no armour protection for the pilot. But, with 2 Rolls Royce Merlins and being made out of wood, it was an icredibly fast aircraft. I joined the restoration club and because I have a lot of experience with mechanics I am going to help rebuild the engines. I can't wait. :jump:

Here's me thinking it was going to be a boring thread about insects.

One of the great aircraft of the war the mossy, however it is a good job the timber frame gave them such manouverability coupled with those Merlin engines, as being without armour there could have been much greater casualties among the pilots if they couldn't evade attack.
