Hello again guys. I continue to have problems with"Any Video Recorder as it crashes on youtube when I try to record videos. It knocks out my default selection for my speakers and knocks out the Teredo drivers. I constantly have to use windows trouble shooter to fix the problem and I have to reinstall the drivers. Does anyone know of a audio recorder I can download that is reliable? I really do not need the video recorder function a simple audio recorder will do as I only record music. Thanks very much.

Actually Rich it is a lot more technical than I have experience or knowledge to handle. Had no problem downloading and installing. I recorded a track but when it came time to play it back there were no sounds. So I went to FAQ'S, followed the instructions on adjusting speakers and vol, etc. After I did so I still got no sounds. Its a bit too complicated for me but thanks. I am still looking for something simple for my simple tech mind. Have a great day. Blessings, Dave

A bit late here for me Dave, however I have Audacity and will try a sound recording from a Youtube video in my tomorrow, and get back to you for how to set it up, as that is all it will need to record sound from a video. I was going to offer Audacity myself but Rich beat me to it.

Here is how to make sure Audacity will record directly from Youtube as the Youtube video is playing. Make sure the settings are as I have shown in the red oblongs.
    #1 should be MME
#2 should be speakers (In my case Realtech High definition, depends on your sound system)
#3 should be stereo mix (Again in my case Realtech HD )
    # 4 should be stereo, though you can select mono if you wish.

Click the video to start it playing and then the record button on Audacity, (If the music starts straight away in the video, it may be better to start recording first, you can edit dead sections out afterwards.)
Here is the screen shot, sorry it is a bit small due to forum sizes.

    a2255fb86454d85e893601003f6f801e.jpg

Once you have the recording, click file, export, and for best quality save it as a WAV file. If you want to save as MP3, if you haven't done so, you may have to download and install the LAME file for Audacity.

    Hope that helps,

    Nev.

Hey Nev thanks for the time and effort. My Audacity set up is a little different. #4 on mine is Speakers.
I have MME, Microphone, Stereo, Speakers. Youe # 4 is Stereo again. Anyway I recorded sounds but the center part that looks like a osciliscope stays flat line and not fuzzy so I don't know if it is recording or not. The file I exported will not play so I guess nothing was recorded. Thanks Nev.

I also ran another windows troubleshooter scan and found a problem with the Teredo Tunnel Adapter. I will attach a screen print. Also, when I go on line and try to record I do get something on playback from the speakers, a blank static sound. That coupled with no wave form when recording leads me to believe nothing is being recorded. I tried to locate the Teredo Tunnel Adapter but could not do so that didn't come in a package of all divers at a cost. Thanks again. Take care.

I found the Teredo Tunnel Adapter, of course it is part of windows so I went into the list and found it and reinstalled it. However, I have it on my devices twice and both are marked with the yellow exclamation symbol which means it is not working either. I then went to the registry but could not find the disabled components tab. I attached a screen print. Thanks.

Don't worry about the Teredo tunneling adapter Dave, that is not a part of your sound set up and is connected to certain types of internet connection, for a description have a look here :-

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teredo_tunneling

I originally had an earlier version of Audacity and of course you now have the latest, the numbers 3 & 4 have just been swapped in position in the latest version is all, however yours are set correctly.
I think we need to look into the Realtek set up.
First one is control panel > Realtek HD Audio Manager > then click the stereo mix tab, the speaker icon should not be muted, and the slider fully over to the right.

Check that first Dave and let us know.

Microphone.PNG sound.PNG I followed you Nev until you got to the "stereo mix tab", I don't have one of those. But I did find the slider and I did slide it to far right and the speaker icon is not muted. I tried recording again on you tube, I set audacity to realtek on microphone #2 and #4. But, the recording was the same, I do not get a wave form and the recording comes out to just speaker noise so I don't think it is recording at all. I also might mention that I also have Any Soft Virtual for microphone and speakers but I tried using both settings on Audacity but neither worked. I have attached some snips of my stuff. I also noticed that you have default set to 16 bits 48000 Hertz, mine was set to 32 bit so I changed it. Thanks my friend.

This may be an ignorant question Nev but does this app (Audacity) need an external microphone to operate or will it work off my internal microphone? I do not have or use an external mike.

Audacity works directly from the sound system Dave when set correctly and doesn't need a microphone.
However those first screen shots are only the Windows own controls and not the Realtek controls, which are separate to the Windows one. The realtek control panel looks exactly like my screenshot or should do.
However the other attachments show your realtek controls, what do you see in the microphone tab, and also the digital output tab?
I am surprised there is no stereo mix tab as mine has.
I will look a bit further into what else may require setting and get back to you Dave.

Edited to add, I now find my Windows 7 home laptop has the same Realtek window as yours, I need to look further into what may be required in both Audacity and the Realtek settings, I am sure it should be made to work.

Well dave this has got me beat. Originally I was looking at my desktop computer which does have the stereo mix and I can record audio directly from a Youtube video using Audacity with no problems.
However as I found when firing up my laptop, the Realtek system on that does not have the stereo mix, just the same as your system. That means that there seems no way I can record sound directly from a Youtube video, or any other sound source either. I did try a completely different sound recorder and got exactly the same result.

The software you are using you said is Any Video Recorder, I did have success using a similar software from the same makers called Any Video Converter, this has the ability to download and then convert to a multiple of formats, so I chose the Customized AVI Movie, then saved the complete video. That worked perfectly for me.

Sorry I cannot help any further as it does seem to be down to the Realtek hardware not having that stereo mix addition that my desktop does have.

AVC or Any Video Converter from here :-

    http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/

If you scroll down the page to the free version, be aware the free version directs you to the C.Net site which is possibly the worst for including unwanted other software and junk, so be careful and make sure you use custom for the install so you can see and remove any ticks in boxes for unwanted junk.

Hey Nev, I did indeed download AVC and I must say it works great. All I do is drag and drop a video or an audio and the app records it nicely in whatever format I wanr. From there I can add to music or whatever destination I want. Thanks for the idea. Take care and Blessings. Dave

Sorry we couldn't sort out the original problem Dave, however I am glad to hear you are happy with the alternative.
    Thanks for letting us know.
