When I play something in Audacity I know I have a lot of counters at the bottom of the screen.

    But they do not move.

Whare is the counter that tells me how many SEC. my track has played?

Yes I do have this on my Audacity.
And as the Track Plays the Pointer moves across the Numbers.

But is this SEC. because it seems to have the Numbers spaced far apart.

I do not know how I am to read it?

The Audacity "Help" section has every tutorial you would ever need.:)

Most of the screen shots I could find appear having them in 30 second blocks.

If you are looking for more specific time then you will probably need to look in the help section like Dougie suggested.

As you can see in the image below there are zoom in and zoom out tools on the tool bar (marked in red).

Click the one with the plus sign on it to view smaller sections of the audio track.
The more times you click, the more detail you will see... including 1 second increments.

When zoomed in you can use the slider at the bottom of your screen to enable viewing of the rest of the audio track.

If you want to return to the normal view click the View Tab, and then Fit to window. (Ctrl + F)
