    Dear Experts,

I have Windows 2000 Pro and XP Pro in my networks.
What I need to do is to ALLOW specific users to update any excel/word files,
but PREVENT them from deleting the files.

    I have done these steps:

    1. Right click the folder and access Security tab
    2. Assign the users MODIFY permission
    3. Take out the DELETE permission

The result is that I can not save the files and in the folder it create
word/excel temp files (lots of them)

    Advice please !!!

Isnt part of the Office save process the deletion of the old file? Random
    thought, probably wrong.

apache007 would you please be more specific in your answer. Are you saying
that your not able to save any files in the folder at all? are you able to
    create a new folder?

If you would please give us the oveview of the security ntfs permissions
which you have set onto the folder and if possible explain exactly what you
want to do with this folder.
