Hello,I am looking for some help with a very old computer I am trying to get working,If there is anyone out there who is familiar with older computers PLEASE help.
The problem is the board in the picture runs in a computer that attaches to a front end alignment machine. The whole set up is from long long ago.The computer was brought to me to see if maybe I could do something with it.I told them I would try but could not make any promises.
My first dumb question is,would the monitor plug straight in to this connection on the board?I had another old computer I put this board in to and tried it like that. The computer comes on but no video to monitor, how ever if I take this board out the monitor comes on.....
If there is anyone willing to help me with this I would really really appreciate your time.I don't know if I am explaining clearly what is going on so please if you need more info, just ask....
    Thank You

Hi, I am no expert on older machines as I didn't get started till Windows XP. However those who do know a bit will need a lot more information.
First the make, name or model number of this computer and if known what operating system.
What exactly do you mean by "A front end alignment machine" what is it supposed to do plus any information regarding that, all will be of help to anyone who may be able to help you.

Edit to reflect that Plastic Nev posted while I was typing..
I would suggest that you take that card to a computer store and explain to them that you need to plug a VGA lead into it, and do they have a connector that will allow you to do that. If they do it should be quite cheap.

Note: A VGA lead is the cable that comes from a modern monitor.

Ok thank you...everything the computer uses is in this card. The computer does not have a harddrive or anything in it.I just did not know if that connection on it was what once be a connection to a monitor.

Ok...I've tried to identify the card and I'm still no further forward, except to say that I still think that it is a graphics card.

Just as Plastic Nev has asked in post #2, it would be very helpful to have all of the details from the computer its self.

The video card is too old to support any decent type of resolution on anything other than a CRT monitor...

I think using the term 'computer' in this case is confusing. This board appears to be the electronic 'guts' of an automotive diagnostic machine that helps with tire alignment. The machine may or may not have had a monitor. Likely the only avenue is via the machine manufacturer and if it's really as old as reported its going to be very hard to find a replacement.
