    Hi Bob,

Is there any particular advice you would like? Maybe on apps to download or ways to set things up

As a question to you is this the first time you have used Android or have you used it before with a mobile phone for example?

    As some app suggestions if you haven't gone looking through the Market already;

Maybe you like reading the news, if so I'd recommend the BBC news app has a good user interface to my eye - https://market.andro...S5uZXdzLnVrIl0.

Or even the BBC IPlayer app - https://market.andro...XIuYW5kcm9pZCJd

If you like to play a game every so often then Angry Birds is good :) - https://market.andro...mdyeWJpcmRzIl0.

You might even use Skype so could download that and use it with the front facing camera - https://market.andro...XBlLnJhaWRlciJd

Thank you for your kind offer of help.I am finding my way round slowly.

The sim and Apps are all new to me.
I do have quite a few books I would like to transfer from my main PC they I use mobireader at present on the PC.

There are quite a lot of Solitaire app games on the Android Market, I can't recommend any personally as I don't use any on my phone, but generally the best way to go about downloading apps would be to read through a few recent reviews of the app, maybe up to a week back to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it like the possibility of malware or just being a crummy app :).

I'm not sure how your book files are currently stored, are they separate to your Mobireader application, so you could move them to another computer or device (i.e. haven't got DRM), I'll assume they are a .mobi file format if so the Kindle app will be one of a few options for you - https://market.andro...24ua2luZGxlIl0

You should be able to plug your tablet into your computer via USB (after installing the Kindle app), I can't guarantee it will have happened as I don't use eReader stuff but on a test install of the Kindle app on my phone it created a folder on my SD Card called 'Kindle' so you should just be able to drop your book files in that folder and read them with the Kindle app.

Good to hear Bob, Not sure why Skype and IPlayer won't work maybe you need to download Flash but I never heard of that requirement so not sure, worth a try though.

Did any other apps install correctly?

When you view the Market on your web browser, and your logged into the Google account you use on the tablet does it say that the app is compatible with your tablet, the compatibility check is just below the 'Install' button on the left.

Yeah thought so as you can see the app has been declared incompatible with your tablet, it wouldn't be because of hardware or the Android software version, it seems the cause is the camera drivers that Archos have shipped with the tablet, with the latest firmware version out a couple of weeks ago not fixing the problem.

Looks like it might be a matter of waiting for Archos to fix the camera problem in a future firmware update, so might be a wait for Skype to be working unfortunately.

    Dear Woddy and Match
Skype and iplayer now working on the Archos Woody.
I foolishly reset the tablet the other day and lost all I had been working on no problem though forced me to do every thing again and helped me to get around the tablet more than I may have done. Back to normal now. The Dongle and sim works fine on my laptop and main pc.
One thing for information and it did take a while to work out at the no internet connection the PASSWORD being asked for is my livebox WEP NO.
    Please KILL the bird :thmbdwn:
Thanks to all on here for your help
    Bob

Looks like your in luck Bob, Archos today updated the software for the G9 series of tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich otherwise known as Android 4.0, I'd highly recommend this update as it enables more GPU acceleration than is already available in Android 3.2 (your current version of software) has some nice UI updates and a favourite of mine is the Google Chrome browser is available for Android 4.0, it isn't available for any lower version number of Android because of the lack of GPU acceleration (from what I've read).
Though you could quite easily download Firefox or Opera if either are your preferred browser.
