Adding terminal Services to Existing Install

What are the actual implications of adding Terminal services to an existing
server?

We have a windows 2003 32bit SP2 server that we need to add terminal
services to. However when we start the install it tells that we have to
re-install every application again, is that really the case or can we do it
anyway?

The server is currently only used as a MSSQL 2005 server but the application
vendor also installs the client software on that machine as well. We then
in turn had to install the client software on our existing terminal servers.
What we are trying to do is consolidate this application into only 1 box
with the DB and software there and have the users RDP into this box only,
use local profiles only etc.

Can this be done, without having to install MSSQL server again, and all the
apps?

AFAIK, no. There are too many things that are done when installing under
TS to be sure that you won't have problems....

Get all configuration, printer, file, program
information and TS licensing laid out.

Have 2 good backups and reload. Depending
upon the amount of information (Windows
Updates, program installation and configuration
and data) it could be done in a few hours.

Maybe on a Sat or Sun night.

The best approach is the one that you already have in place: keep
the database on the SQL server and the client software on your
Terminal Servers.
You should *not* allow normal users to rdp into your SQL server for
security reasons, and you should *not* install the TS role on your
SQL server, for performance reasons. These 2 roles need very
different internal tuning.
