  1. Hi,

I just found in my win 2003 box, I setup a web site: www.xxx.com, and I can
access from internet, but can't access in the local machine IE window, after
I added the url and IP to host file, then works. Can someone explains this
    to me? Please advice. Thanks.

  2. Hello someone@js.com,

In your DNS server create a new zone xxx.com and an A record with name www
    and the internal ip address.

    Best regards

I would guess he already has a domain xxx.com and just needs to add the www host
record. It is the presence of the xxx.com authorities zone without the www host
that prevents resolving the name to an IP.
Another point: you must set the IP = the one inside you firewall and not the
public IP of the site. They may be to same value but usually not. Your LAN will
use 10.x.x.x (or similar private address) and the public IP will be the external
    IP of your firewall.
