    I used to work in the technology dept of a school.
    We had access to this technology 2 years ago via West Wirral Works ( an independant unit based 1k from the school ).

    They also provided CAD / CAM facilities for the students too.

    What they didn't have - wasn't worth having.

    Indeed it isn't new technology as Ken says, working in the plastic moulding business, our tool or mould maker has had several of these created as one off's, usually supplied by the customer, and provided to supplement the drawings provided. Sometimes it is all he has got, and then had to make the drawings from the one off sample provided.
    Clever stuff though as those machines work from ordinary drawings, or from an original component to create a copy.
