We have a 2008 server, with firewall enabled.

The machine does not show up on "net view" on our 2003 DC

Is this a firewall issue, or does 08 work differently to 03?

  2. Hello Frank,

Have you enabled NetBios over TCP/IP under the WINS tab in advanced view
    from the NIC?

    Best regards

Is File and Printer Sharing enabled as an exception in the 2008 firewall?
Is the 2008 server in the same domain as the 2003 DC?

Unless you're on a public network you could always just turn off the
firewall and see if it works. ;)

    Hi Joe

Resetiing the above now allows the machine to show up in Net View from the
    rest of the domain

    Thanks
