Hi Guys. All my programs open quickly, except Open Office.
    I sent SUN Micro,an Email,but heard nothing,except to acknowledge,receipt thereof.
Any hints, to make it open faster? Thanks.:)

EDIT Most Progs take 1-2 sec. Open Office Writer takes round 13 Sec.
    Is this normal?

    Hi Doug,

It depends on what it is loading at the same time, I dont use open office, but is it linked to your emails or any other programs?

Why are you using open office as opposed to MS office Doug?

Open Office is free, and Microsoft Office, is not.

Wordpad is very very basic Dougie and is not even close to either OO or MSWord.

I guess, it's what you use it for.
    Just had a brain storm.:D
Min Open Office Writer, and leave it in the Task Bar.
    Opens almost instantly from there.:)

Have no idea why opening from the task bar versus opening from the normal 'start' menu make Open Office actually open faster, but it does - thank you, Dougie!

I use Open Office too but there are surely some glitches involved ... the slow opening that you mentioned and the frequent 'ghosts' left when rearranging images and text on a page. Saving and re-opening takes care of that a bit of a pain in the bum when pages freezes and one can only close it without saving. Thank goodness for the built in 'fixer' that then restores when next Open Office is used.

(Wouldn't it be lovely if when one buys a new computer, a full version of MS Office came with it! :) ... mine came with it - but it was only a 30 day trial. Drat!).

Another pain in the butt, with Open Office,is when I want to print a large text out,say 4 pages,it only prints one page out, often.
