    Very interesting Wallpaper, Vala.
I can hardly see my wallpaper at the moment.
Have 66 short cut Icons covering it.

Hey dougie, can I ask why you put them on the desktop instead of in a folder. I have my games in one folder, my tools in another in my documents then I add those folders to the tool bar. They go near the notification area and work like a quick launch bar.

Hi Vala. I need a secretary as I get things in a mess sometimes.:D
Defeats the purpose of a short cut Icon if you have to go searching in folders for them.
Did you know 2 quick left clicks on the "short cut Icon" is quicker and easier than Right Click/ Open.
    That Tip was free.

Thanks Dougie, you must have a lot more icons than I do. For me it's easier to sort them by category and put them in 2 folders. My tool and games folders are a neat way to go for me. The tool short cuts are for things like Windows update, programs X (86), a blank document, protection software, etc..

    Hi Vala.
I have too many entirely different software programs installed to categorize into Folders.

That is what I thought. My folders are just shortcuts to things I use daily like I posted above. It is like the old quick launch like we had before W 7.

I am having problems with folders like that staying on my W8.1 Acer laptop taskbar and so are a lot of other people. When I turn it off, they are gone when I turn it on. MS people are trying to help but they can't solve the problem either.

I actually prefer the "free launch bar" which is the old "quick launch" with a few more features and I install it on all Windows 7 and 8.1 pcs.

My current Windows 10 desktop. Very vanilla but I like it that way for now.

Not me too foreboding and I suspect icons can easily get lost in all that busyness though I only allow 10-12 icons on desktop in one row. Then I use power keys
on keyboard as well for most commonly used programs. Dougie you do know the more icons on the desktop the slower pc boots right?

Short answer - No... If one only has on-board graphics and not a lot of RAM, then many icons on desktop could slightly slow down the initial Start-up.

Hi ChronoGeek. Must say your desktop is different.

    Nice Desktop, Ray.

They did slow things down back when 128mb was standard and the processors were slow turtles. Nowadays it's not an issue.

Here is mine, a bit boring to some perhaps but the dog was my old mate who lived till he was 17 years old and has a particular soft spot in my memory for being a great companion. I plonked him on the writing desk as it was the only way to keep him still long enough to get a photo, the look in his eyes tells you he is saying why put me up here?
As for the icons, all 70 of them, indeed they don't make much difference to boot up since installing the SSD drive.
Though I must have a purge and uninstall some of the junk, they are programs installed to try them out and see if worth recommending to others or not, mainly freebies.

Really cute dog, Nev. I'm sorry that you lost him but I imagine he lived a great life while you had him.
