    Hello everyone,
Well this is the first time I've really joined a forum like this and I hope to learn alot about caring for and fixing my own PC issues. I live in Cambridge, Maryland, I am a 49 year old white male, separated at the present time, I also have two middle school aged daughters whom are living with my wife. I had worked the past twenty some years as an electrical controls technician building, testing, installing and trouble shooting / repairing various controls enclosures for water and waste water treatment facilities. As a result of years of carrying heavy tools equipment, ladders and such, I developed degenerative disc disease in my lower back which lead me to have a spinal fusion in September of 2009. I have since lost my job and have been on long term medical disability through my insurance provider pending approval for Social Security Disability. Whew, that just about covers it all. I'm glad to find a place online in which I can hopefully resolve some of the PC problems in which I occassionaly encounter, especially since this is basically my means of social interaction currently. If anyone does happen to have a lingering question in which they'd like to know about me, please do ask in a email message and I will answer you. Thanks, and I'm glad to be here.

    Cordially,
    Carl

Interesting to say the least. I will have to take a look again in the morning when I am awake. I would ban your Avatar but I have a fondness for Ray Rice, (Rutgers)

Hi Carl - and welcome to our Computer Help Forums! We'll a very friendly group here and so please feel truly comfortable when asking for help with any computer problems that pop up. We're also a bit different than so many sites - we try to answer in a very decent time interval (know it's not easy waiting for an answer) but I think what makes our Experts truly special is that they are happy to help all people, whether computer techs or those of us just starting out - and they are always not only kind but very patient when doing so. Yup, here one can simply say they don't understand something in the instructions given and we're never ever ridiculed!

Your job must have been fascinated and how difficult it must be to have developed such degeneration that's required spinal fusion - ouch, ouch! - and adjusting to stopping work and going on Social Security Disability can't have been easy for you, either. Truly sorry! But very glad you've joined us here, Carl - and please remember you are not only welcome in our various computer areas but also in our social area here.

Again, a very happy welcome to you, Carl!

    Mara
    :)

    Hi and welcome

At first I thought you were in Cambridge England, Nice place to live, but reading about your Back condition I sympathise although I wouldn't have advised spinal fusion being the best solution from what I have read about it, which as my Wife suffers from it is quite extensive, although it sounds as though she is no where near advanced as yours.

Feel free to ask about anything you want to know, remember at one time we were all computer illiterate and have spent a long time learning what we know, and fully understand that everybody has to start somewhere, so no question is to small or simple to answer :)
