How do I get my old yahoo screen back? Since upgrading Windows Explorer, it
    is different?

I assume you mean "Internet" Explorer which had nothing to do with it.
Open Yahoo and scroll down to the bottom and click on "Return to Classic
Yahoo.com" under ABOUT YAHOO. Yahoo recently changed their "look". I
don't care much for it either.

Is is possible that his home page was Yahoo previouly and now it is MSN?

He could go back to Yahoo web ( Yahoo.com) site and then go to Tools ->
Internet options -> Home page click "current"
