XEROX invented the mouse and the graphical user interface. They could have owned the global computer market, but not realizing the gold mine they had, they gave it Steve Jobs.

Yup. Xerox didn't know what they had. Steve saw it.

Also HP didn't know that they had when Woz tried to give them the PC. From Wikipedia

Very interesting but they didn't say who discovered the any key. You know when someone says press any key and it isn't there.

Zerox didn't even think twice when Steve told them they were sitting on a gold mine! lol

I didn't know that about HP and Wozniak. Wow!

Xerox wasn't the only company. IBM was another. Rather than keep the system proprietary as Apple has done, they made it available to anyone and the PC market, with all different companies competing was born.

My first computer was an IBM. Silly me, I bought it without Windows because I thought Windows was a passing fad and would never catch on. Now you know why I don't waste my time and money gambling. My powers of prediction are badly lacking.

It was easier and cheaper for IBM to use existing hardware for their systems. They did however patent their BIOS in attempt to prevent clones. That worked...for a while. lol
