Is this a scam or what? I opened Gmail ad this pops up. I used to have a free version of WOT but have not seen it for awhile. Maybe it expired or something??

Maybe it is not free anymore? I looked for it to download but did not find a free version yet.

I don't think anyone places much trust in WOT anymore, Bill.
In any case, your screenshot shows WOT as the premium version, which I've never heard of.
I don't know if anyone uses it any more.

There are lots and lots of scams around these days, for me anyway. do not think I have this installed anymore for cnnot locate it. There is a programs folder that says WOT on it. Has one file in it called WOT.dll. Another Programs folder has the dll file AND a WSS file. Should I just delete these folders? They have a 2013 date on them.

Yes, I would go ahead and delete them, especially if you are no longer using it.
BTW, It is a browser extension.

I want to know how that pop up got in there. I'm running WOT and have never seen such a pop up.
What web site were you on BGBG?

I went to gmail on chrome browser and this pop up appeared and is still appearing. I just click x to close it. Used to have WOT but maybe it was on Firefox which I used to use. until it needed updating then I just switched to Chrome for FF was giving me trouble. Usual websites are gmail and chrome DuckDuckGo search. Never popped up until a day ago. Now almost every time I open gmail it pops up.

    Found it
    https://www.mywot.com/

    It must be an ad.
Someone tell BGBG how to block ads in chrome. (I don't use chrome but I do have ad blockers in the browsers I use).

I thought I HAD ad blockers but must be mistaken. At least for this one which pops up every time I open gmail.
I see I have Ublock. Unsure if it is working or disabled. Lots of settings.

Is there a free ad blocker that will block this WOT ad for premium?

Thanks. I will try this. Right now I just close the ad and do not click Remind Me Later. But would like to block it if I can.

I see I have one called uBlock but the one you posted said ublock-origin is NOT the same. Therefore I guess I will try the one you posted . I will let you know if it works.

SUMMARY: I R-clicked uBlock and selected Remove From Chrome. I then clicked on the uBlock-Origin web store item. It said Remove From Chrome. The Remove from chrome changed to Add To Chrome. I clicked it. Also clicked Add Extension. It said it had been added. I opened Gmail. Saw NO AD APPEAR. Guess this means it worked?????? Will let you know if it returns.

Guess what.....I opened Gmail again and saw THE AD IS BACK. Maybe I am doing something wrong???

I clicked create QR code and download. It downloaded. This is going to take some figuring out. Unsure what to do now.

Opened Gmail a few more times and now it does NOT appeaar. Maybe it worked??? Hope so.

Nope ! Keeps on coming back. Unsure what to do.

Seems to be finally working now. Sometimes it opens then reloads and ad pops up. Has not appeared now for half dozen tries. I think i was not clicking Create the correct way.

Sorry but I have no idea what you did with a QR code.

I don't use chrome and I have never seen that popup.
When I click to block something, it stays blocked.

I found the Create button since. The ad still appears but not every time. At least I have the correct uBlock Origin now. Ad does not pop up every time I open gmail but stops for awhile and comes back when I think it is gone.

Popped up again at 5:10 pm. I right clicked ad and clicked "block element" on the menu that appeared. The ad disappeared.
Just tried it again about an hour later. Ad was back. I R-clicked and double clicked "Block Element" and it went away as before. Why does it COME BACK?

Remove the WOT extension and see if the pop up goes away.
