[Solved] WOT

I installed WOT, enabled it in Manage Add-Ons in IE 8 & IE11, read the website tutorial, but have yet to see any indications of it when downloading or going to a site.
Can someone please explain where this traffic light appears and when, and maybe post a website that it is known to show indications it is safe or otherwise. Maybe some websites it doesnt work with?

 

I can handle that. Find the red arrows and you will see WOT .Upper right hand corner You can disable or in-able with a right mouse click

 

Outstanding! But I dont see anything like this in my XP IE8 and dont recall seeing it in windows 7 IE11. It says enabled but maybe it is truned off somewhere, or blocked. I go to website, dont see it. Try downloading something, still dont see it.

 

Go to tools Click on Manage Add- ons! Enable!!

 

What browser are you using. If your using Yahoo, WOT may not work. Yahoo has gone crazy. Change your search engine to Google and see it WOT works. You can always change it back! Let me know if I can help you further.

 

Hi @BGBG I don't know whats going on for sure. If your using Yahoo for your search engine, WOT is not working. The browsers are getting crazy and so are the search engines. I think Yahoo is working on this?????? My WOT is not working With IE and Yahoo either! I will do more research to see what the problem IS!!

 

Hi @BGBG The only thing I have been able to find out is that WOT is working on this and it should be fixed soon.
That's the best I can do. Several reports on the Web about this problem!!

Donetao is correct. WOT is not presently working with the Yahoo search engine.
Anyone's guess when WOT will be available for Yahoo.

Actually I checked W-7 IE11 and do see it at very top R corner under the X to close window. Not sure of search engine-may be Google. Not Yahoo though. Not sure about the XP IE8. Will check this out further and post back. Seems OK on IE11 though. It is enabled on both. Thanks. Just glad to get it working.

BTW, where can I find what search engine is and option to change it in IE8 and IE11.
Notice WOT displays for this website but not on Google website. Maybe only works on certain websites? Now that I see what it looks like maybe I can figure it out.

 

Providing it is working in the browser as you have now found, the ring will be green if the website is OK, orange if suspect and red for a definitely not to be trusted, and in that case it will stop the page loading and show you a warning over the top of it.
If however nothing is known about a website, the ring will be grey with no colour.
If it is working in the browser and as you found out Yahoo is not involved, the ring icon will be there on all websites.

Right under the category in IE for "Manage Addons" shown above, you will see "Search Providers". Make sure that "Google" is default and take out all the others is what I always do.

 

Click on the little magnifying icon to choose your default search engine.

 

AAH Yes.... BING is the Default search engine. Is WOT supposed to work with Windows XP and IE8? Because I see nothing on webpage that seems to relate. Windows 7 IE !! seems to work fine now that I know how it works.

 

Yes Wot works with all Windows browsers.

 

Hi! The only search engine that I'm aware of where WOT doesn't work Is Yahoo.I do not have a clue why WOT doesn't work with Yahoo????

 

My search engine says BING, I have it disabled and checked so nothing can alter my search engine without my approval. There are no other search engine choices and I always use google but do not have it set in search options. But with IE 8 the thing is, I just dont see any symbols for WOT like I do in IE11. No big problem for can use the other PC and never had it before, but cant seem to figure out why though enabled it does not shpow up.

 

You might check here??? Also add Firefox browser and see if it will show WOT. It doesn't hurt to have several browsers.
