Every few days there is a Canon MP270 series optional update that appears to be the same one, installed over and over and over. It is always along with another update. It was released in May 2010. Do I really need to install it over and over again every day or two. I do the updates manually when I am notified but is seems like ths one is always the same one with same date. About 14 MB.

Does the Canon update show as failed, Bill?

Are the dates on the optional update changed to the current date?

    Truthfully, I hide optional updates.

I redid one of my Seven systems and have never installed a optional update and have no issues.

The one today says released in May 2010 and published 1/2/2013. No idea what they are for.

If you aren't having problems with your printer, Bill, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'd just remove the annoying Canon update program and/or disable it from msconfig.
