Running W7 HP 64-bit in Dell desktop. Tried several times over the last couple of days to install the current update, KB4284826- keep getting this message- "Code 80073701- unknown error." The MS links provided amount to a dead end. So, once again I'm asking the talent on this site for some help- what should I do? All responses appreciated! (PS- Couldn't figure out how to post the screenshot)

"Highlight" and "hide" the KB4284826 update.
    Don't bother installing.
My computers and Laptop, run fine without that update.

Thanks for the advice. Seems I'm often looking over my shoulder worried that some unseen disaster will strike. BTW, for future reference, is there a method for posting a picture, etc., to this forum from my computer?

If you absolutely want to install it, you might try posting in the update problems section of the Sysnative forum
    https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/
A lot of MS MVPs from different countries hang out there. I read threads just to learn things.

I found several threads with the same error on the same update in Win 7 there with successful installs.

Since they work on an individual basis, one of the Update Pros there will ask to see some logs and develop a script just for you.
It is a very busy site so it might take a few days to get to you. If no one gets to you in 2 days, bump your thread so it doesn't get lost.

    Yes.
Click More options...I'm using the edit popup. It might be different on a new post. You'll see a button under the posting box titled Upload a file. Click that then go searching for what you want to upload.

Thank you. I'm content to take Dougie's advice. I'm more than willing to be guided by those who are more Internet-experienced. But if for some reason this update turns out to be needed, I'll refer to your post.
