On my Windows 7 Dell laptop I have something called Windows Photo Gallery. I cannot find it in C drive programs folder and it has never or not recently been updated. What is this program, where is it located, and if it needs it how/where can I update it. It has various pictures I have taken but if it does not open I do not know how or where to find it. I would downloatd it again if I could find out where. Sometimes it does not respond and I suspected it may need updating.

It DOES seem to work though. Here is a file called About Windows Photo Gallery. See attached. I just knew how to open pictures but not much else about it. I would like to know how or where to upgrade it if needed and where it is located. Can anyone offer help?

SUDDENLY it opened without the "Not Responding" statement and I saw LOADS of photos back to Feruary 1998.I would like to know more about this. I guess any photos I made were saved into this and I just viewed without really knowing anything about what I was doing.

It's part of Windows Live Essentials.
Go to the Control Panel / Programs and Features.
Find the Windows Live Essentials entry.
    Double click on it.
Choose Remove one or more Windows Live Programs.
It'll be in there. Put a check mark in the box(es) of your choosing then click on the Uninstall button.

Well, at least I found where it is. I am still unsure what to do about it. I read somewhere it is not a Windows program anymore which I guess is why it never noties me of updates.I never paid much attention to it except if viewing pictures. Can I still get this for free?

When Windows 7 came out, the standalone Windows Photo Gallery application was renamed to Windows Live Photo Gallery and moved to the Windows Live Essentials suite of applications.
The program has since been discontinued by Microsoft and is no longer officially supported.
If you have a version of Microsoft Office installed, you can use the Microsoft Picture Manager .... that's what I use all the time.
There isn't another software program that I can recommend as there aren't any others that I've used.
Although at a pinch I suppose you could use 'Paint' until you install another program.

The pictures will have been saved to your 'Picture' folder...Windows Live Photo Gallery is only an application to view them.
