hello, i use a HP ENVY dv4 with core i5, 2.5ghz, 6GB RAM and a 750GB HDD. I recently did a fresh installation windows 8.1 because i was having some problems with previous windows 8 but the problem still persists. The problem was that it was unable to sleep, when i put it to sleep the screen just goes off for about 3 seconds then it comes on again. I also noticed that my hard disk space decreased after each restart. so i did a clean installation of windows 8.1, after the installation i noticed it still didnt sleep, asides that my keyboard is really messing up. when i try to type it presses other buttons in conjunction which i didnt press For example i press "L" it just locks my screen and i understand that the "windows button + L" locks the screen. Because of all that i cant really use my pc the way i want, even with it is difficult.
Please i'd really love to hear suggestions of what i could do about it. Thank you!

Well I don't see very good reviews on this laptop so I have to ask is this still under warranty because such things should not be happening. If not and I assume not I suggest you go to the HP site (www.hp.com) Support and Downloads and look at the drivers because if you used a Windows disk, you need to download the proper newest Chipset, video, audio , Lan and synchpad drivers to be certain you are set up right. If you used Restore Partition then they should be ok unless there are newer drivers at the HP site.
You also need to check Control panel, Power Options and see what is being called for for sleep. If by chance it may be set not to sleep or the intervals may not be long enough. For wired I like 30 minutes screen and 1 hour hard drive and for battery 15 screen and 25 minutes hard drive. There could also be a bios setting calling for no power management instead of setting it to "user control" as it should be.
